Edward Muntean is a professor at the Department of Food Sciences within the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj Napoca, Romania. He instructs undergraduate students in Analytical Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry, while guiding Master’s students in Chemical Hazard Assessment and Control for Food Quality Management. His educational background encompasses a B.Sc. in Organic Chemical Engineering from Babes-Bolyai University Cluj Napoca, postgraduate studies in Applied Informatics and Programming from Technical University Cluj Napoca, a M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Biotechnology of Plant Pigments from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj Napoca and a PhD in Chemistry from Babes-Bolyai University Cluj Napoca. Prof.Edward Muntean has authored twelve books and over 100 papers in scientific journals focusing on analytical and its application in food science. He has managed eight independent research projects and actively participates in professional societies. He is a member of editorial and advisory boards for several international journals. His research interest lie in the chemistry and biochemistry of biologically active compounds, with a shift towards applications of high performance liquid chromatography and ion chromatography in detecting emerging food and medicinal plants’ contamination.
